Are garden rooms insulated and suitable for year-round use?

This is a classic example from the Clifton range that will be used as a home office. Our customer in Woking, Surrey was working from their kitchen table due to COVID. Now that working from home is set to continue indefinitely, they decided to add extra living space. This is 4m x 3m with cedar cladding is completes with a decked area that the family can enjoy. As this is an office space, it needs to be usable all year round and one question we get asked a lot is "is the building insulated and comfortable to work in all year round?" All our garden rooms are made from timber frames to give the building additional strength and the walls, floor and ceiling are insulated with A+ rated Celotex insulation (as opposed to foam which a lot of garden room companies use). On the inside, the walls are then boarded with plasterboard and skimmed, ready for paint or wallpapering. On the outside, OSB board and a waterproof, breathable membrane are applied, before the cladding goes over the top. The thickness of the walls, is 170mm. This keeps the building nice and warm and only requires a small 2kW electric heater to make it a very comfortable space all year-round.
